Huffath/ Huffaz/ Memorizers:-
Since writing materials and literacy were both in extremely short supply in Muhammad's territory, he depended on men who could memorize his alleged 'revealed' verses of the Quran.
These 'revelations' came to him at different times in different places over a period of almost 23 years. In reality, they were MADE to ORDER 'revelations' for as long as he was alive and able to concoct them in the "Name of Allah".
Among the most trusted were:
Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 2.387 Narrated byAnas
When the reciters of Quran were martyred, Allah's Apostle recited Qunut for one month and I never saw him (i.e. Allah's Apostle) so sad as he was on that day.
*** These reciters were killed during piratical raiding parties conducted by Muhammad and his followers against unsuspecting pagan Arabian tribes.
As they died, also died with them many verses of the Quran that they had memorised and are now missing from the alleged 'divinely descended ' book ***
Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 5.153 Narrated byMasruq
'Abdullah bin Masud was mentioned before Abdullah bin 'Amr who said, "That is a man I still love, as I heard the Prophet saying 'Learn the recitation of Qur'an from four from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud--he started with him--Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudaifa, Mu'adh bin Jabal and Ubai bin Ka'b."
Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.525 Narrated byQatada
I asked Anas bin Malik: "Who collected the Qur'an at the time of the Prophet ?" He replied, "Four, all of whom were from the Ansar: Ubai bin Ka'b, Mu'adh bin Jabal, Zaid bin Thabit and Abu Zaid."
*** As can be seen, the Ahadith do not even agree upon the most important Huffadh.
In fact, very little in the Ahadith shows veracity, concistency or realiability; most are myths created to glorify, propagate and excuse the
Cult of Muhammad at any cost and by any means possible ***
Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.521 Narrated byMasriq
Abdullah bin 'Amr mentioned 'Abdullah bin Masud and said, "I shall ever love that man, for I heard the Prophet saying, 'Take (learn) the Qur'an from four: 'Abdullah bin Masud, Salim, Mu'adh and Ubai bin Ka'b.' "
*** Depending on the memories of different human beings, of different perspectives at different times, they cannot possibly bring about a true and correct version of the actual sayings and deeds of Muhammad.
It is almost humanly impossible to remember perfectly an event especially since even several witnesses to the same event at the same moment of time and place will give different renderings of what they thought they actually witnessed or heard.
According to tradition, the Quran had to be collected from texts found on paper, bones, bark of trees and chalk.
Why - one may inquire - go to all this trouble if the memorisers already had ALL that information? ***
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 2286 Narrated byAbuMusa al-Ash'ari
AbuHarb ibn AbulAswad reported on the authority of his father that AbuMusa al-Ash'ari sent for the reciters of Basrah. They came to him and they were three hundred in number. They recited the Qur'an and he said: You are the best among the inhabitants of Basrah, for you are the reciters among them. So continue to recite it. (But take care) that your lengthy recitals may not harden your hearts as were hardened the hearts of those before you.
We used to recite a surah which resembled in length and severity the (Surah) al-Bara'ah. I have however forgotten it with the exception of this which I remember from it: "If there were two valleys full of riches for the son of Adam, he would long for a third valley, and nothing would fill the stomach of the son of Adam but dust."
*** These verses are NOT in the curent 'divinely revealed' Quran***
And we used to recite a surah which resembled one of the surahs of Musabbihat, and I have forgotten it, but remember (this much) from it: "O people who believe, why do you say that which you do not practise"? (61:2.) And "That is recorded on your necks as a witness (against you) and you will be asked about it on the Day of Resurrection" (xvii.13).
During the caliphate of Abu Bakr in December 632AD, at the battle of YAMAMA against Mussailima, over 350 of the meamorizers of the Quran died and with them an uknown number of verses of the Quran.
It was after and because of what happened to them that Umar ibn al Khattab insisted that the Quran should at last be put in WRITING.
There are numerous references regarding many of the important missing verses in the Quran in reports written by the Muhammadan scholars themselves as well as by the best Arabists from the West.
